Located on the 4th floor of the AKIBA CULTURES ZONE building in Akihabara, Astop is one of the largest rental showcase stores in the area.

Here’s how it works: individual sellers rent a case and display their items, and you can browse them all in person.
When you find something you like, just fill out a small purchase slip with the case and item number, hand it to the staff, and they’ll unlock the case and take care of the checkout.
You can check the condition of the item before buying, which makes it way more reliable than online auctions.
It’s about a 5-minute walk from JR Akihabara Station, and the shop’s open every day from 11:00 AM to 8:30 PM.
